Miracle Fruit – Where To Get Miracle Fruit Seeds

May 29, 2008

This is driving me nuts, I want to get some damn miracle fruit and I can’t seem to find any place that has them. The few places I did find have 2 to 4 months back order. If you buy the seeds you might not see the fruit for one to two years. Miracle fruit is freaking impossible to get.

Damn WSJ and NYTimes coming out with those stupid articles. I just learned of them a week ago, and now that its mainstream getting your hands on miracle fruit is damn near impossible.

If you know where to get miracle fruit seeds please leave a comment for all to see.

Fixed Gear Bicycle Gallery Contest

December 11, 2007

Fixed gear bicycles are starting to appear everywhere nowadays. For a while I could not understand what the infatuation is with fixed gears. For those of you who do not know what fixed gear bikes are, picture a bicycle with no brakes or freewheel. These “fixies” as they are sometimes called, are super streamlined. There is a contest running right now over at Fixed Gear Bike Gallery . You can simply submit your picture and if it gets chosen it will be featured as the bike of the week. For those of you who are not riding fixed gear bikes right now here are my top five reasons to ride a fixed gear bicycle :

How to Find Apartments : Landlord Lingo from CraigsList

November 30, 2007

This one is really good. The other day I was looking for apartments in San Francisco on Craigs list. Of course I see a post that looks to good to be a true and I click on it. To my surprise it was a fake posting, but whoever wrote it was nice enough to outline keywords used in selling apartments and what landlords really mean when they use them.

I posted them below, I wish I could give credit to whoever wrote them, but I haven’t heard back from him/her yet.

Rock Art : Amazing Rock Balancing Artist

November 15, 2007

So the other day my girlfriend and I decided to get out of San Francisco for a day and ended up going to Sausilito. The coolest thing there was the Rock Art. There was an artist who would balance rocks one on top of each other. These were pretty big rocks too, and when you see it, it will blow your mind how they stayed up. It seems to defy gravity. Here is the video of rock art and how he managed to balance them.

Hot Gas Results in Less Fuel Efficiency in Cars

July 19, 2007

If you are reading this article you probably have heard about this whole hot gas issue. If you haven’t let me break it down for you. When liquids are heated they expand. Gasoline like most liquids expands when heated. However, this expansion does not result in more energy. So when you fill up your tank you are actually paying more per gallon for less energy output. Some estimates claim consumers loose as much as 300 Billion dollars worth in California alone.

Currently Hawaii is the only state that adjust prices based on the temparature of the gasoline at the pump. Although this may have worked there I think this whole debate is quite ridiculous.

First of all we the focus shouldn’t be on the oil giants. They are not the ones profitting from this small nuance in gas pricing. It is the people who run the pumps. Usually these are mom and pop shops that barely make profit as it is. Most of the revenue at gas stations comes from snacks and soda purchases from impulse buys. With pay at the pump being common this revenue source has dwindled. To try and force these people to install expensive machines to measure gas temperature and adjust the gas price accordingly will force a lot of these shops out of business. Gas stations keep their gas underground where air temparature rarely has a high enough effect. When adjusting the final price you probably will not even notice. However, when you aggregate this change it will hurt the gas station owners significantly.

I know you are probably like me and will pay the extra 3 cents at a gas station that is more convenient rather than pull a U turn and hit up the cheaper station down the block. If this is true then you should not support this BS about adjusting gas prices due to hot gas. If you do support this movement it will hurt small businesses and next time your running low on gas you may find a lot of stations closed and youll end up on a desserted highway in the scorching sun wishing that you werent such a deuche.

Do Not Listen to Bear Grylls on Man vs Wild

July 3, 2007

I am hooked to Man versus Wild, but unlike most people I watch it to learn what NOT to do in case of a survival situation. Don’t get me wrong the show is entertaining, but even an amateur like me can tell you that the guy is insane and some of his advice is absolutely awful. Shame on Discovery for marketing this show as educational to help you survive. Listening to Bear Grills  and get yourself killed. On top of that I am convinced that the show is staged.

Here are the top things I have spotted watching the show that made me realize that I should take this show as entertainment only.

  1.  When Bear tried to mount the horse you can clearly see it was wearing horse shoes. Wow bear you really found horses in the wild.
  2. If you break a leg you are beyond screwed, yet Bear runs down mountain sides, glaciers, and craters. If you were trying to survive why would you do that? Oh wait, that’s right, you have a camera crew with you that feeds you PowerBars.
  3. Bear killed a rabbit with a stick. Maybe, I would believe this if the camera didn’t get jerked right where supposedly the rabbit got knocked out. I mean the camera guys deserve credit when they are hanging on wires getting some extreme shots of Bear, but stooping down to camera tricks is lame.
  4. He jumps off cliffs into water without even knowing how deep it is or what might be lurking underneath. No one should ever follow this rule its pure suicide.
  5. He walks all the way down a glacier finds a “boat and a shovel” and decides to go paddle up the way he came. Why did he walk down in the first place.

Anyway, I love the show M v W, but I think its irresponsible of Discovery channel to promote it as survival tips. The guy does some really foolish things that most people in those scenarios never will have to. I cannot wait till some dumb asses try to pull of some of his stunts and get hurt, the press will go crazy, but knowing how our society works it will only make the show more popular.

Moving to San Francisco

June 25, 2007

Usually my articles are very pragmatic, but tonight after a few glasses of wine I decided to see if people would be interested in reading a personal article. After graduating college I had ideas of grandeur about how I want to lead my life. Before I knew it I felt like I was treading water living at home, working 9 to 5, feeling less ambitious by the day and the fire that once consumed me to try and make this world better was slowly being muffled by the repetitiveness of every day life.

There was only one good thing that came out of my year at home and that is my girlfriend. I wish we had a sweet story about how we met that so many couples seem to have. The truth is we met at a club danced a little and hit it off instantly. Every time we tell the story we embellish it more and more and im sure in the future it will be complete nonsenseb. Maybe that’s how most people’s meeting stories end up sounding so “romantic” after a few years.

It finally happened and I decided its time to just pick up and go to San Francisco. All of my excuses that once stopped me are gone: not enough money, being far from friends and family, not knowing the city, my “career”, etc. I think I just realized it was fear creating excuses for myself and there is no such thing as a good time to leave. The mind creates reasons for not taking action, but they aren’t real most of the time and that is one of the biggest hurdles that needs to be overcome.

Some wonder why would I leave when so many things were going well in my life. I have great friends, awesome family, the best girl a man can dream of, I just got promoted, and I save lots of money. The truth is that a few years back I had a life awakening moment. My mind was so focused and life seemed so clear and simple as if I was able to stand outside of myself and see my past and future at the same time. In part, I have to thank my stoner room-ate, although I do not smoke, I think the second hand smoke got to me. Mix that with a few extreme events in your every day life and you get a potent slap in the face that wakes you up from a long dream in which you had no control over.

I long for that feeling again. I am hoping being in a new environment will restart those emotions that were my driving force for so long. Off I go to San Francisco to explore new people and new places and hopefully build the life that I desire.
